DENVER NUTCRACKER A BALLET FOR KIDS DANCED BY KIDS
The International Ballet School presents it eight annual Nutcracker at the Newman Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Denver.
This beautiful production boasts over 150 costumes and lovely sets and decor performed by talented children from 6-18 years of age.
The show is traditional on both sides of the proscenium arch, for years families have made the outing to see the Nutcracker a yearly occasion and young dancers have danced their way upwards from a mouse in the Battle Scene to the Sugar Plum Fairy or other coveted roles.
The youngest children are Bon Bon’s and they emerge from the giant Ginger's dress to the delight of the audience. They are also Mice in the Battle Scene that torment Clara and fight the valiant Nutcracker's soldiers in the first act leading to the transformation of the Nutcracker to a Prince
Every little ballerina's dream is to portray Clara whose magical Christmas party is visited by her mysterious Uncle Drosselmeyer. This coming of age tale has beguiled children and adults alike for over 100 years with the magnificent music of Tchaikovsky and the charming tale of Hoffman.
